They literally invented interpersonal relationships, social awareness, societal structures, economic and monetary systems. You name it, everything that could have been a natural outflow of their intimacy with God was replaced with the effort of designing it themselves. Social self-consciousness and sin consciousness were some of their first ‘inventions.’ They felt shame and hid from God behind their fig leaves. All the human predicament devolved from their original separate self-awareness.

And what of the visible world? Here too the consummation would bring change and newness. When the distinction between visible and invisible space disappeared and man's perception of the world included in Glory-dimension, the cosmos as an integral, unified whole would take on a new face for him. For glorified man, earth would become “heavenized.”

All would be aglow with glory. More broadly stated, man's glorification would mean the perfecting of his dominion over all the works of God's hand (cf. Heb 2:5-10). He would enjoy the capabilities that we see displayed in the resurrection appearances of Christ.

For heaven, the dwelling place of God, this newness would consist not so much in a change of heaven itself as in a difference in man's experiencing of heaven.By virtue of the glorification-metamorphosis (which perfects the divine image in him) man would have his eyes opened to what was hitherto invisible. He would be able to apprehend the wondrous realities of the Glory-dimension, previously beyond human ken. The two-register character of biblical cosmology, relative as it is to man’s preglorification status, is not permanent. It belongs only to the first stage of an eschatological movement that was integral to creation from the beginning and leads to a final stage of Consummation. As we trace this eschatological development, an important feature that emerges is the archetype-replica (original-likeness) relationship between the upper and lower registers.

At that consummation of redemptive history, prefigured by the Sabbath ordinance, the visible-invisible differentiation of space comes to an end as the heavenly Glory is unveiled to the eyes of redeemed earthlings, their perceptive capabilities transformed now by glorification. The boundary of heaven and earth disappears. All becomes one cosmic holy of holies. God’s own Glory constitutes this final temple, the realization of the hope symbolized by its earthly replicas.

The acts of resurrection and glorification that bring the temple-city to its consummate state are manifestly acts of God. So too is the accompanying event of the last judgment, the coming of Christ the Lord taking vengeance on his foes, destroying antichrist by the breath of his mouth. Likewise in the Noahic flood event, the prophetic type of the last judgment, the primary actor was God. In the last analysis, he was the builder of the ark, the temple-city. And clearly he was the one who, by unleashing from his arsenal the mountain surmounting waters, prevailed over the ungodly world, obliterating the antichrist powers who challenged his throne on Har Magedon. The Flood was a parousia event, a prototypal final battle of Har Magedon in which the Lord was the Victor and Consummator.
